Fun times with neighbours

Thank you to everyone who came out today!

The weather turned out to be great, if a little windy.

Plenty of people, some food, soccer, getting to know each other, and even a tiny bit of magic.

We will definitely have to try this again!

About the project

The' North of Euston Neighbourhood Project' was launched to explore ideas for neighbourhood identity, engagement, and interaction in the"North of Euston" area of Charlottetown, and we may just play in a park while we are at it...

The project was conceived with a two-pronged approach to building a sense of community and engagement in the downtown area bounded by Euston Street, University Avenue, Allen Street, and Longworth Avenue. The neighbourhood is an older part of the City but falls just beyond the 500 Lots district and has no formal name. The neighbourhood is a great mix of ages and features many different housing types, and there is a great untapped potential to build on the existing heritage and culture to create an even more sustainable community with a strong sense of identity and a vibrant park space.

The first component of the project will be to undertake community outreach to gather suggestions and build consensus on a name for the neighbourhood, which would eventually be presented to City Council for endorsement.

The second component would be to enhance the physical component of the neighbourhood by taking a closer look at Orlebar Park, the neighbourhood’s primary open space area.

The ultimate results of the project would be a stronger sense of neighbourhood and community, possibly signage and other neighbourhood markers, and a strategic plan for enhancing Orlebar Park.
